Historically part of Staffordshire, Wolverhampton was founded over 1000 years ago by Lady Wulfruna in 985 AD. Her statue can be seen standing in front of St Peter’s church which itself dates back to 1480.
Wolverhampton lies on the northern border of the West Midlands, 13 miles north of Birmingham with direct links to it via the M6 and M5 motorways, national and local rail services as well as the Midland Metro tram system. This also allows it to be accessed conveniently from all local towns including Dudley, Walsall, Stafford and Bridgnorth as well as Manchester and London.
Famed for its motto “Out of Darkness, Cometh Light”, this 12th largest town in the UK was made a Millennium City by HM Queen Elizabeth II in 2000. Historically known for its mining, steel production, motorbike and car manufacturing, Wolverhampton now has a large aerospace and brewing industry.
